The two wings of compassion, and the One head.
So let us then imagine that there were compassionate people, with a calling from God in different political camps on the left and the right.
All of them depending on eachother, all of them going astray on what they are most known for.
And neither of them enough a party to compose the church of their own.
It would be like Jesus, standing and looking out over Jerusalem, and complaining:
“Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you were not willing.
◄ Matthew 23:37
There must be many big souls out there, able to do “greater works than these”. Able to speak meaning, compassion and truth into our difficult church wounds.
But I want to remind people that a hen has two wings, to the left and the right. I am not talking revelation here.
And Christ is the head, and He lives, as He has said in His word.
But we need the the left wing and we need the right wing, in order to gather the people.
And we need the left wing and the right wing to both be connected to the head, which is Christ.
And we need the greater souls, that are able to make meaning, confidence and to end defeat for both left and right alike. As well as the center.
Maybe then, there is salvation for the church, and for the world.
